New DEA Requirements

There are new DEA requirements that require 8 hours of opioid of other substance use disorder training. Some of the session from the 2023 NDNPA Pharmacology Conference should work towards this 8 hour requirement. If you have any further questions or concerns, contact SAMHSA directly.

The 2023 sessions that count are: 

September 21, 9:15 - 10:15 session of Getting in the Mood for MOUD by Heather Blue, PharmD, BCPS, FMSHP [1.00 (1.00 Rx)]
1.    Compare and contrast the pharmacology of medications used to treat opioid use disorder including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
2.    Describe how the various medications for opioid use disorder interact with other medications.
3.    Discuss pharmacologic treatment options for the patient with insomnia.    1.00

September 22, 12:30-1:30 session of An Update on Fentanyl and Synthetic Opioids by Missy Henke, MD [1.00 (1.00 Rx)]
1.    Recognize how fentanyl and synthetic opioids are different from other opioids in regard to abuse potential.
2.    Explain what is meant by the term “harm reduction.”
3.    Identify harm reduction strategies.
