AANP North Dakota State Representative Position Open at NDNPA!

This position is specifically designated to represent the best interest of AANP and NDNPA. You will be the representative and state contact person for AANP. This position is an appointed position by the NDNPA and volunteer.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Increase the visibility of AANP in the state by building membership, providing information to AANP staff about issues or activities in the state and responding to AANP policy priorities when needed within their state.
  • Facilitate networking and member recruitment within the state by communicating key message points to NPs and NP students, individual members, NP Organization members and others who support the practice of NPs. This may include the following:
    • Coordinating with AANP to disseminate AANP-approved messages related to NP practice, policy and issues that impact the profession, and assisting AANP in disseminating organizational communication within the state.
    • Partnering with AANP staff in responding to state-specific inquires on NP practice.
    • Assisting with Research, Education and Professional Practice department surveys and other information gathering projects.
    • Directing members to appropriate AANP staff for assistance.
    • Hosting AANP exhibit booths at state and regional conferences, as requested.
  • Coordinate and implement the annual AANP State Award for Excellence program. State liaisons are responsible for assisting in the call for nominations process, formulating and facilitating selection committee activity and participating in the Salute to the States ceremony at the AANP national conference, if in attendance, and the presentation of the awards in their home state.
  • Attend and actively participate at the AANP meetings and conferences, as requested.
  • Attend and participate in the virtual regional meetings.
  • Promote AANP to NP students and educational programs in the state. This may include the following:
    • Provide guest lectures and AANP materials to faculty and students, as requested.
    • Raise awareness of resource materials available to students and faculty on the AANP website.
  • Communicate with regional directors and AANP Government Affairs staff regarding legislative and practice issues.
  • Engage in AANP media relations, if requested by AANP.
  • Partner with AANP to promote state recognition of NP Week each November. Added details and a resource guide to help plan and execute NP Week activities will be available on the AANP website in September each year.
  • Participate in AANP conference calls as scheduled. Regularly check email for communications from AANP and the state liaison listserv.
  • Maintain active AANP membership.
  • Reside within the state of North Dakota and be a member of the NDNPA.
  • Cannot concurrently serve on a board, chair a committee or council or be employed by a nursing certification or membership organization (including those whose products, services or interests overlap with AANP) unless the position is specifically designated to represent AANP’s best interests.
  • Attend and represent the NDNPA at the annual AANP Health Policy Conference in Washington, DC.
