Position Description

NON-TENURE/ Tenure TRACK POSITION DESCRIPTION

NON-TENURE TRACK FACULTY APPOINTMENT:

RANK:   Assistant Professor of Practice or Assistant Professor

TEACHING, RESEARCH AND SERVICE RATIO: (Will be adjusted if candidate qualifies for tenure track) 

  • Teaching: 75%                                  
  • Scholarship:  10%                                           
  • Service: 15%

POSITIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Read and abide by all rules and regulations for faculty of North Dakota State University as outlined in the faculty handbook.
  • Maintain a current active license as a professional nurse in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Nursing and other boards of nursing as appropriate.
  • Design and develop Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner curriculum and identify/implement ongoing improvements through assessment activities and quality improvement.
  • Coordinate and teach courses as assigned by the Associate Dean/Chair of the School of Nursing (SON). Using the SON workload formula as a guide, teaching responsibilities will be incorporated into the position based on School needs and the candidate’s expertise.
  • Develop clinical learning activities and rotations for nursing students in contracted inpatient and community settings.
  • Provide leadership for the overall planning, organization, and evaluation for the Post-Master’s AGACNP program.
  • Work with the Graduate Council to assure compliance of the Post-Master’s AGACNP program with standards set forth by the CCNE and North Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts and the annual admission process of qualified AGACNP student and recruitment and retention of preceptors
  • Assist with CCNE surveys and BON annual reports and survey reports
  • Work with Graduate Council (ad hoc group) to oversee activities with AGACNP recruitment, admissions, student progression, and curriculum changes
  • Provide leadership for AGACNP faculty search processes  
  • Coordinate faculty and student orientation

CLINICAL PRACTICE SITE ASSIGNMENT:

  • Maintain at least one day a week of clinical practice in health care facilities in Fargo, ND, Moorhead, MN, and possible rural sites arranged through special contacts and arrangements (dependent on FTE)

SCREENING DATE:

  • Screening will begin 11/27/24 and remain open until filled

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters APRN degree or MS APRN degree enrolled in a doctoral program

National board certification as Adult/Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Current unencumbered APRN license or eligibility for APRN licensure in North Dakota

Excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned doctoral degree in nursing (Doctor of Nursing Practice or Ph.D)

Clinical experience as an NP in acute care setting

Experience in academia, teaching, and/or curriculum development

Experience in leadership and/or administration
